Nine years ago, my husband and I were poor, newly married college students. I became pregnant only a couple of months after we got married. Having kids is a hard and transformative experience for any couple or person, but our story was an especially challenging one. Chris and I both worked part-time jobs to make ends meet, all while going to class full time, and I had a baby girl growing in my belly.
I look on this time in my life with a lot of fondness. Things were simple. We made very little money, ate terrible food, and slept in on Saturdays. But our financial reality was truly a difficult one. That’s why I’m thankful that we were able to lean on the provision of the WIC office in Waxahachie. Our goal as a family was always to use help as a stepping stone to a better life, and that’s what we’ve been able to do. We wouldn’t have had the life that we have enjoyed the last eight years without this help though.
A few months ago, I was contacted by Arrowhead Films (based in Austin, TX) to help them create images for the WIC office in Waxahachie while their team filmed the video portion. It was such a privilege to come back and do some work for this office. Their generosity did so much good for me and my family when we were in a tough financial spot. The following images show some of the images for the client as well as some fun behind the scenes moments.
The WIC program was a definite blessing to us when we were in a tight financial situation for several years. I’m glad you were able to do something to give back to them. Hopefully your article will inspire others who have been helped by them to give back also.
We were also helped significantly by the WIC program when we were in a tight financial situation. I’m so glad you were able to find a way to give back to them. Hopefully your article will inspire others who have been helped by them to get back also.
