On the night Jennifer went into labor, I sat in the hospital parking lot enjoying some Boston Market macaroni and cheese (a guilty pleasure that my husband hates!) and listening to one of my favorite REO Speedwagon songs on the radio. I spent time reflecting on my profession and how normal it was for me to know in just a few short hours I would witness another new life coming into the world. For me, this was just another day “in the office,” but for this family this day would change their lives forever.
Little did I know that I would be asked to help this laboring mother as she was pushing. My role for her would not only be photographer, but one of physical support and encouragement. This job I have is truly a gift and each family leaves their mark on me in such unique and profound ways.
Great blog post! You are a blessing to do many women and their families. I’m with Chris on the mac and cheese though.
