Ali’s Birth – Dallas Birth Photography

October 8, 2019

None of my births are ever the same. Ever. Ali called me around 5 PM to tell me her water broke, and I began to get my things together, knowing that I probably still had time to get ready for what might be another long night. (Side note: this was my third birth in one week!)

She started around 4cm dilated, but jumped up to “feeling pushy” (!!!) in the space of two hours. This wasn’t normal, but I was ready. I jumped in my car to race across DFW, only to get a call when I’m still thirty minutes away that I needed to be there quickly  or they may end up at the hospital  before I could get pictures at Ali’s house. I called one of my backups to help out hoping beyond hope that she wouldn’t have the baby at home without me there.

Fifteen minutes later, I received another call that they were headed to the hospital, and I should have my camera ready because this might be a car baby. Goodness. I changed course, and beat the parents to the hospital. Fortunately,  we all made it in time. Dad was even able to help catch his baby and announce, “It’s a boy!!!” to a room full of joy and tears.

Life is never dull in this line of work, that’s for sure.
