National Coffee Day 2015 – Waxahachie, TX Lifestyle Photographer

September 29, 2015

I was planning to write a big blog post about coffee and it’s significance in my life and how it reminds me of when Chris and I first started dating… And then I remembered I already did that… last year. So, I went and reread my post from last year and the words are so special to me so I think I’d like to share them again in case you missed it, with some new pictures of course:

I love the smell of coffee. Let me rephrase that. I love the smell of someone making a cup of coffee. Roasting coffee? No. That smells like a mix of burnt popcorn and the color brown. Unfortunately, in our household one must come before the other.

Back in 2006, when Chris and I first met, coffee (mainly Starbucks) was all the rage with teenagers. My parents have a deep loathing of all things coffee so I was raised thinking it tasted like “dirt” although I had never so much as had a sip of it. So when Chris and I started having “coffee dates” I of course ordered a nice tall cup of chai tea. Slowly I started pretending like I liked coffee (because he liked it so much) and I ordered lots of mochas… heavy on the milk, whipped cream, and extra chocolate. Basically I didn’t want it to taste anything like coffee. Being that we met in Alaska, in January, this pretending had to happen on a very regular basis. The funny thing is, I actually started to kinda like the taste of coffee. The smell always brings me back to those cold winter evenings, sitting on a couch in a coffee shop, talking and falling in love.

Over the next several years, coffee became more of an interest for Chris. He started branching out and experimenting with other brewing methods (French press, AeroPress, Chemex etc.) then eventually got the idea that he should roast his own beans. It’s been quite the process to end up where he is now, but most people who like coffee will tell you that his beans are some of the best they have ever tasted.

Chris is a total coffee nerd and loves to talk about it ALL THE TIME so feel free to drop him a line at his newly updated facebook page or visit his website www.BacaCoffeeRoasters.com to order some of his amazing coffee beans.

Happy National Coffee Day
