Benny + Bri – Highland Park, Lifestyle Photographer

Love. Sometimes it’s a feeling. Sometimes it’s a choice. Sometimes it just can’t be helped. I’ve come to realize over the past few years that love doesn’t just mean one thing… especially when you are married. Love is letting your spouse eat the very end of the box of cinnamon toast crunch with all the sugary bits. Love is getting up in the middle of the night to rock the baby even when it’s not your turn. Love is looking at your spouse and forgiving, even when you don’t feel like you should. Love is choosing to be committed to that one person and saying “just you, always.”

Anniversary shoots and engagement shoots are typically two very different things. One is like a little kindergardener ready for the first day of school, so excited about all the new and exciting adventures ahead; you can almost feel the puppy love bursting out of them. But with married couples you have this unspoken rhythm. They know each other. The love they show has years of meaning behind it.

So when Benny and Bri told me they wanted to celebrate their 5 year wedding anniversary with a photo shoot, I was honored. The light in the evening is so gorgeous at Davis Park around Turtle Creek, I knew it would be the perfect spot for our shoot. Like most of my sessions lately, the weather called for rain and it actually rained on most of my drive in to Dallas. Fortunately the clouds parted just as we both arrived and the sun lit up the park beautifully. Unfortunately the mosquitos gave us a run for our money and poor Bri was the main target.

Happy Anniversary you two, may the next 5 be even better than the first.
